• Laser Users:
  Must comply with applicable health and safety requirements at their location. Most organizations with regulatory authority will refer users to a consensus laser safety standard such as the American National Standard ANSI Z136 series of standards or will integrate it in whole or part into their requirements. In the U.S., at the federal level, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) refers laser users to the ANSI Z136 series of standards for guidance on providing a safe working environment. Other federally operated facilities such as the Department of Energy (DOE) have requirements that facilities under their control comply with the ANSI standard.
